Atlanta Moves to 2-0 After Tough Road Win in Dallas
The Atlanta Dream improved to 2-0 on the season after grinding out a 77-72 road win over the Dallas Wings at College Park Center. From the opening tip, it was physical, intense, and competitive on both sides, but Atlanta’s starting five of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon, and Angel Reese is still undefeated together.
Gray and Reese Set the Tone
Atlanta came out with energy immediately, with back to back blocks from Allisha Gray and Angel Reese to open the game and set the defensive tone early. Gray continued her strong start to the season, leading all scorers with 26 points and adding four rebounds. She’s now scored 24+ points in back-to-back games and also reached a major milestone, recording her 1,000th career defensive rebound.
Angel Reese was everywhere on the glass once again, finishing with 12 points and a team high 16 rebounds. That performance gave her a second straight double-double to begin her WNBA career, and she continues to prove why she’s already becoming one of the league’s most dominant rebounders.
Canada Takes Over Offensively
Jordin Canada gave the Dream a huge offensive boost, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds, and a team high five assists. She attacked all night and kept Dallas scrambling defensively. Rhyne Howard added 14 points of her own and was automatic at the free-throw line, going a perfect 7 for 7. Atlanta as a team shot an impressive 94% from the line.
The night also included a few big milestones and memorable moments:
Te-Hina Paopao surpassed 100 career field goals.
Isobel Borlase scored her first WNBA points with a huge three-pointer.
Indya Nivar made her WNBA debut and saw her first official minutes.
Closing It Out
The Dream locked in defensively in the fourth quarter, holding Dallas to just 13 points to close out the win. After back to back wins over the Minnesota Lynx and Dallas, Atlanta is building early momentum and showing how dangerous this group can be on both ends of the floor. The Dream also improved their all-time record against the Wings to 30-20.
