Saturday night, one team proved it more than anyone else. The Cold Hearts went undefeated all season, found themselves down 18 points in the championship game, and came all the way back to beat YGE 79-76 in one of the best games in Overtime Select history.

This is their story.

Down 18. The comeback nobody saw coming

The Cold Hearts were in serious trouble early. YGE came out with the kind of energy and execution that makes you wonder whether the undefeated record means anything at all when everything is on the line. An 18-point deficit in a championship game against a team as talented as YGE feels insurmountable. Most teams fold.

The Cold Hearts are not most teams.

The third quarter is where this game changed forever. The Cold Hearts outscored YGE 30-12 in one of the most remarkable quarter performances you will see at any level of basketball. Thirty to twelve. That's not a run. That's a takeover. And the player leading it was Morghan Reckley who scored 11 of those 30 points during a stretch that had to be seen to be believed.

When it was all said and done the Cold Hearts led by one with 14 seconds left. YGE had one last shot to take the championship. And then Jordyn Palmer the star this team is built around got the ball, drove to the rim, and laid it in with the kind of physicality and composure that you simply cannot teach. Bully ball. Championship ball. Cold Hearts ball.

Jordyn Palmer was the Finals MVP and she earned every bit of it

22 points. 14 rebounds. Her third double-double of the season. And the game-winning layup with 14 seconds left in the championship.

Palmer was huge down the stretch of this game, most notably scoring the final bucket to put the Cold Hearts up for good. That's the definition of a Finals MVP showing up when the lights are brightest, when the game is on the line, when your team needs you to make the play that ends it. Palmer made that play. And in doing so she added to an awards cabinet that is already loaded for a player who hasn't even gotten to college yet.

Watch this name. Write it down. Jordyn Palmer is going to be a problem for years to come.

Morghan Reckley was spectacular all night

18 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and those 11 third-quarter points that completely flipped the momentum of a championship game. Reckley has been one of the most consistent and explosive players in OT Select all season and Saturday night was her biggest performance on her biggest stage. She delivered.

Kristen Winston was clutch when it mattered

The No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2029 let that sink in, 2029 finished with 14 points including several clutch mid-range jumpers in the fourth quarter when YGE was doing everything they could to reclaim the lead. Winston is already playing with a composure and skill level that doesn't match her age and Saturday night was proof of exactly how special she already is.

Jemini Mitchell came out of the gates on fire

11 points and she hit her first three shots of the game immediately setting a tone that told YGE the Cold Hearts were not going to be rattled by the early deficit. Mitchell's contributions don't always show up on the highlight reel but they matter every single time she steps on the floor.

GG Banks deserves her flowers

The Cold Hearts won. But I am not finishing this article without talking about GG Banks.

Three-time YGE captain Banks' career came to an end on Saturday night but she went out with a bang. Banks led all players with 27 points while coming up just shy of a triple-double with nine assists and eight boards. She finished second all-time in both points and assists in OT Select history. That is a career that deserves celebration even in defeat and the way she competed on Saturday night, the way she gave everything she had for her team until the final buzzer, speaks to exactly who she is as a player and a competitor.

GG Banks is going to be a name to know at the next level. Mark it.

My take

Her Game Network was honored to be credentialed for OT Select this season and watching the next generation of women's basketball players compete at this level is exactly the kind of coverage we exist to provide. The Cold Hearts went undefeated and came back from 18 down to win a championship. Jordyn Palmer put the game away with a layup with 14 seconds left. Morghan Reckley scored 11 points in a third quarter that changed everything. And GG Banks showed you why she is one of the best players this league has ever seen, even in losing.
