Rebel Run: Lady Rebels Dominate the Fourth to Take Down the Lopes
What a game! If you were in The Pavilion this past Saturday, you felt the energy. The Lady Rebels took care of business against Grand Canyon, walking away with a 74-65 win and keeping the momentum rolling as we hit the home stretch of the season.
Here’s the breakdown of how the Scarlet & Gray got it done.
The Meadow Roland Show
Can we talk about Meadow Roland? She was absolutely dominant, putting up her 10th double-double of the year. Meadow dropped 27 points and cleaned the glass with a season high 15 rebounds.
When she’s shooting 10 for 22 and living at the charity stripe (6-for-7), she is nearly impossible to stop. She’s making a massive case for some serious Mountain West honors this season.
Stat Sheet
Destiny Leo: Provided the spark from deep, putting up 14 points and knocking down four triples.
Shelbee Brown: Kept the pressure on the Lopes all day, finishing with a solid 11 points.
Aaliyah Alexander: While she didn't lead the scoring, she was the engine of the offense, dishing out a team high 6 assists.
A Game of Heavy Runs
This one wasn't for the faint of heart. After a tight first half where we went into the locker room up just 31-29, things got wild:
The Third Quarter Push: After GCU tied it up early in the second half, the Rebels locked in and went on an 8-0 run to grab a nine point lead.
Firing Away: We started the fourth quarter on a 12-3 tear, pushing the lead to 69-53.
Closing the Door: GCU didn't go away quietly, cutting the lead back to nine late, but the Lady Rebels showed veteran poise. We sank four straight free throws to ice it and secure the nine point victory.
By The Numbers
While GCU’s bench out scored ours 33-10, the Rebels won where it mattered most:
The Paint: We took the battle down low, outscoring them 32-24.
Turnover Havoc: We forced 16 turnovers and turned those into 19 points.
Team Effort: Our defense was everywhere 9 steals coming from 8 different players. That’s what you call a collective effort.
