Chennedy Carter Is Coming to Vegas

The Aces just added one of the most explosive guards in the league. On April 14, Las Vegas announced that Chennedy Carter has signed a training camp contract with the three time defending champions. And if you know Chennedy's game, you know this is a big deal.

The talent Carter was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Atlanta Dream and came in and immediately showed why she was a top pick finishing as runner up for Rookie of the Year and establishing herself as one of the most dynamic, get her own shot guards in the game. In her four WNBA seasons she has averaged 14.6 points per game. And her last time on the court? She averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals on 48.7 percent shooting with the Chicago Sky in 2024 all career highs. That is a starter's stat line on any team in this league.

The journey Here's the full picture:

  • 2020 — Drafted No. 4 overall by Atlanta. Immediate impact. Rookie of the Year runner-up.

  • 2021 & 2022 — Continued to develop her game in Atlanta before being traded to the LA Sparks.

  • 2023 — Stepped away from the WNBA to reset and refocus.

  • 2024 — Came back to the Chicago Sky and had the best statistical season of her career — 17.5 points per game on 48.7 percent shooting.

  • 2025 — Kept her game sharp playing professionally in Mexico.

  • 2026 — Signs with the Las Vegas Aces. A new chapter.

That is a player who has been through it, stayed ready, and kept her game at a high level no matter where she was playing. The fact that she went overseas to stay sharp and is now back in the WNBA on one of the best teams in the league tells you everything about her commitment to this game.

Why the Aces make sense Las Vegas needed bench scoring. With most of the salary cap tied up in the championship core of A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and Jewell Loyd, the Aces needed depth pieces who can come in and give them a scoring punch without a long-term commitment. Carter fits that role perfectly. She can create her own shot, attack off the dribble, get to the line, and change the energy of a game in minutes. In the right environment, with veteran leadership around her and a clear role off the bench, she can thrive.

And let's be real playing alongside A'ja Wilson and being coached by Becky Hammon is about as good as it gets. If you want to win and you want to grow, there is no better place to be.

My take Chennedy Carter can flat out play. The pull-up game, the speed, the fearlessness going to the rim she has skills that most guards in this league simply don't have. The Aces gave her an opportunity and I believe she is going to make the most of it. Training camp is going to be must watch just to see what she brings to that practice floor every day.

Welcome to Vegas, Chennedy. The lights are bright here and so is the opportunity.
