Aces Make History with 13th Straight Win, Take Down Lynx 97-87

The Las Vegas Aces are on fire, and they just made history. Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena, the Aces (27-14) powered past the Minnesota Lynx (32-9) with a 97-87 win to extend their winning streak to a franchise best 13 games. The building was buzzing, and honestly, this team is playing some of its best basketball at the perfect time.

Wilson Leads the Way

When the lights are brightest, A’ja Wilson always shows up. She poured in 31 points and made it look easy, continuing her MVP level season while moving up the WNBA’s all time lists in both made field goals and rebounds. Jackie Young wasn’t far behind, dropping 20 points and hitting big shots when the Aces needed them most.

Chelsea Gray did what Chelsea Gray does run the show. She finished with 13 points and 10 assists for yet another points/assists double-double, the 18th of her career. And let’s not forget NaLyssa Smith, who added 10 points off the bench and gave Vegas that extra spark.

Offense on Another Level

This game wasn’t just about winning it was about putting on a show. The Aces knocked down a season high 38 field goals and shot a season best 55.1% from the field. When Vegas is clicking like that offensively, there’s just no stopping them.

And it wasn’t just volume it was efficiency. Ball movement was sharp, spacing was perfect, and the Aces had answers every time the Lynx tried to close the gap.

Locking Down Collier

On the defensive end, the Aces sent a message too. Napheesa Collier came in as the league’s top scorer at 23.5 points per game, but Vegas held her to just 12 points. That’s what championship defense looks like.

Minnesota did get a big boost from Natisha Hiedeman, who dropped a season high 22 off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Aces’ balance and pace.

Breaking It Down

  • 97 points are the most scored on the Lynx this season (Seattle’s 94 on June 11 was the previous high).

  • Wilson now ranks 17th all time in made field goals and cracked the top 20 in rebounds.

  • Gray tied herself at 4th all-time in points/assists double-doubles with 18.

  • Young reached a major milestone, becoming the newest member of the 1,000 assist club.

This wasn’t just another regular-season win the Aces became the 8th team in WNBA history to win 13 straight games, and they did it in commanding fashion.

What’s Next

The Aces now turn their attention to a home doubleheader against the Chicago Sky to close out the regular season. Sunday night tips off with a Jewell Loyd collectible pin giveaway for the first 7,500 fans, and Tuesday night is Fan Appreciation Night with a full pregame Fan Fest on Toshiba Plaza.

The streak is alive, history has been made, and the Aces are peaking at exactly the right time. If this is how they’re closing out the season, the playoffs are about to get very interesting.
